COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PROGRAM: Patty reports classes are very well attended. Good selection of classes, approximately 8 couples per class. 9-10 pm class on Wed could fold., only 4 couples. Patty also reminded the Board that she would not be doing Program Chair this fall. A replacement is needed.

COMMUNICATIONS: Richard K. relayed this information from Terri Babers. She sent out e-mails re: out-of-state instructors. Discussion re: free advertising in News Miner has not been utilized. Since Terri B. has been busy with finals, this could be the reason. Will need another Chair this fall. Terri will be stepping down. Richard K. will check with Leafy & Terri B to see what is happening. The web site has been well maintained and updated by Richard K.

MEMBERSHIP: Richard K. Stated since Vita has moved to Juneau, Dale H. offered to help out but would be unable to commit to meeting schedules. Richard felt we need someone that has more available time.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: Possible new Chair, Suzi Fenner. She will think it over, concerned about time commitment.

FACILITIES: Need a Chair replacement for the fall sessions. Monday and Wed. classes are covered for closing. Patty and Bruce L. are opening on Mon. & Wed.

OLD BUSINESS:

BYLAW REVISIONS: Still tabled.

REFUNDS/ANGELS: Class/lesson refunds were discussed. Generally, it is our policy not to refund, but certain circumstances may change that. Much discussion re: single dancers needing partners and the process of the club trying to find partners for the session. A paper list was suggested to be on hand at class so people might sign up and possibly be connected with a partner. Terry D. suggested a member 'Angel List'.

TANGO WORKSHOP: Tango lessons are too expensive, not too many interested. Frank Canha, from Anchorage may be interested in doing a winter workshop for Tango.

NEW BUSINESS:

DANCE/LESSON CD'S: Jim Robb suggested paying Kurt Byers to make CD's for practices and for dances. Practice CD's should have two dances of the same type in a row. Jim will contact Kurt to see if he is interested and negotiate a price.

LIBRARY ADDITION: Richard added two new tapes to the tape collection.

FOLK DANCER USE OF NEW SPEAKERS: Jim R. had a request from the International Folk Dancers to use our speakers. It will be discussed at a future time.

GOLDEN DAYS DANCE: Jeanne mentioned the Golden Days dance is a possibility as we have the July dance scheduled during the Golden Days week, July 18th.

HALL MAINTENANCE: Terry D. reported that NLCD has the permit to repair the porch and paint the outside of the building. They will try to schedule a work party in May.

TREES: Jeanne D. found some big artificial trees for sale through a friend for $100 each. They would look nice in the hall for dances. Richard made a motion to purchase them if they did not sell at the moving sale. Jim R. seconded the motion.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM

Next meeting: May 16, 2003
