Harvest Moon Ball November 11, 2006
Waltzing across the floor in elegant ball gowns and snazzy tuxes, gyrating to salsa beats, groovin' to swing, and having Big Fun in the Merengue line (thanks Jeff), we had a truly wonderful evening at our annual Harvest Moon Ball. Six very lovely single ladies even braved the cold to drive all the way from far off Delta ....Tok may be next!
As always, Kurt Byers created a superb custom mix of eminently danceable music for this very special event.
It's hard to describe, but there was definitely a very good feeling in the air -- maybe a mixture of the pure joy of dancing to great music, the pleasure of seeing everyone dressed in sartorial splendor, appreciation of our many friendships and how far our dancefriends have progressed in their dancing, and definitely pride in our great club for putting on such an elegant and enjoyable event.
Events like this don't just happen without a lot of effort by our dedicated volunteers. Our heartfelt thanks to Steve and Patty Nelson for putting in a LOT of hard work to organize and put on the Ball ---
GREAT JOB!!! photos

The 1st Annual Golden Days "Fairbanks Formal Fling" a success!!!
July 13-21,2001 marked the 50th Anniversary of Golden Days in Fairbanks. In celebration, the Greater Fairbanks
Chamber of Commerce held a Golden Days Ball, sponsored by the Ballroom Dance Club of Fairbanks and the UAF Good
Time Swing Dance Club, as part of its annual fund raising activities. Several club members attended the Ball
decked to the hilt in their Golden Days finery. Those that attended raved about the live music by Kit Carson
(which was specifically chosen for the dancing), the "kicking" performance by the Golden Heart Dancers, the
waltz lesson given by Jerry Blemke, the wonderful hors d'oeuvres, the beautiful decor, and the grand dress of the
patrons who attended. Many ladies wore beautiful dresses of the Golden Day period and guys were decked out in
tuxs, spats, and hats. We all had a GREAT time.

August 4 Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival Swing Dance
Nearly 200 people turned out for the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival "Evening of Swing Dancing" and salsa lesson
last Saturday night at UAF, giving us another great time on the dance floor.
Top highlight of the night was the band's final set, when the Mighty Untouchables were joined by Etsuko Kimura-
Pederson on piano and Nancy Jeffers on sax. The band really got into a swinging groove with lead guitarist Lindy
Raines trading solos with Etsuko, Nancy, and Eddy Stevens, the other sax player. Maybe we can reassemble that
sort of combo for some future dance.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who pitched in to help make the event a success. We had a small army of excellent,
reliable volunteers, without whom the dance could not have succeeded as well as it did. With help like that,
there is no doubt we can keep swing dancing alive and flourishing in Fairbanks!
