The
Ballroom Club is now offering video CDs with dance steps recorded in MPEG format
for playing on your DVD for $25.
Demonstrated by Jerry Blemke and Patty Davis and recorded by Kurt
Byers and Al Gilhuly. Note: These video clips were prepared with the intention
of being used as MPEGs or VCDs and therefore are not as high quality as the original
video in order to keep the file size small. This VCD is recorded on a standard
CDROM, not a DVD disk. It will play on most DVD players and also play on computers.
If your computer has a DVD drive on it you can simply play the VCD using WinDVD,
DVDMAX ,etc. or other DVD player software.
If
your computer has only a CDROM you can still play these files. The files on a
VCD are MPEG-1 files which are lower quality than MPEG-2 files found on DVDs.
These files are located in the directory MPEGAV and are named AVSEQ01.DAT for
track 1 (Boxstep), AVSEQ02.DAT for track 2 (Turning Basic), etc. Simply clicking
on the .DAT files will likely open Notepad and lock up your computer. Not a good
idea. Some options:
1.You can associate the .dat files with Media Player if
you know how to do this.
2. You can play moves right off the VCD by right
clicking the move you wish to view, and choosing Open With and then choose Media
Player.
3. You can copy a file like avseq01.dat to your hard drive, rename
it to waltz_boxstep.mpeg and it will automatically play when you click on it.
